Working in partnership with Hampshire Constabulary and the Naya Yuva, Aldershot Town Community Trust assisted a group of young people in the Nepalese community to form a football team. This team was entitled UNITY FC and catered for youths aged between 15-17 years of age.

The team trained and played matches weekly and where assisted by the Aldershot Town Community Trust team who provided regular training sessions and co-ordination with a variety of events, including fetes, fun days and fund raisers.

The Trust has also donated kit for the teams to use at tournaments and all of the players have attended various Aldershot Town FC’s home matches. The highlight of these visits came at one half-time interval when one of the youngsters Roshan was selected to take part in the ‘Cross Bar Challenge’. Cheered on by his fellow players and members of the Naya Yuva (the Nepalese Youth group, of whom the Trust also works with) Roshan proved triumphant in the challenge and successfully hit the bar on two occasions.

The Unity FC team, along with the support of the Trust, was run under the guidance of Raj Gurung and Baz Laksamba and it is hoped that with their support and the assistance of others the team and opportunities for local youngsters will grow.
