Nothing could dampen the spirits on the Aldershot Town & District Football in the Community February Half-Term course as local children battled the elements to improve their skills and enjoy time with old and new friends.
Thankfully, the parks pavilion also came to the rescue on occasion providing all with a dry area to warm up whilst we put brains to the test with football quizzes and indoor games.
On the final day, we were delighted to welcome some sunshine to the course just in time for the first tournament of the World Cup year. Perhaps an early omen, team Brazil were victorious on penalties in the final against a spirited Portugal side. Possible future World Cup stars, Nathan and Reece, were named players of the week during the certificate and trophy presentation – well done to both.
A final ‘thank you’ must go to Fleet Council and Friends of Oakley Park for their continued support and for providing such an excellent and safe venue for local children to enjoy.
We look forward to many more special football memories to be made this World Cup year and hope to see you all soon. Keep up to date with all the activities the Trust provides by following us on Facebook (Aldershot Town Football in the Community) or Twitter (@CommunityKid).
