Happy New Year to all and we hope you had the wonderful Christmas you all deserved.
As we welcome in the new year, we are also delighted to welcome you all back to our award-winning scheme and the many new projects we will be offering this year as well as continuing with those that you enjoyed last year.
Over the past few weeks, The Trust is delighted to have secured funding from Rushmoor Borough Council for our ‘Reaching for the Stars’ project – an exciting new programme aimed to inspire those looking to make the next step in to college education or employment. Over the weeks we will be engaging year 10 and 11 pupils with practical sessions that introduce coaching skills and how to adapt sessions to meet disability needs as well as offering refereeing sessions. The programme will also signpost students to various college sport courses as well as employment opportunities.
From 8th January, The Trust will continue the running of the Peter Driver, Monday Night Football sessions. Whilst maintaining the same great value, the sessions will now be a ‘booking session’ with payment options soon to be offered on the ‘Current Sessions/Online Booking’ page. Training for 5-8 year olds will be available between 5-6pm, whilst 9-15 year olds can enjoy playing under FA Qualified coaches between 6-7pm.
The Trust looks forward to the next break for local school children when we will be hosting the February half-term course between 13th-15th February at Oakley Park, Fleet. The popular courses will welcome 5-14 year olds of all abilities with all participants receiving certificates as well as the chance to win medals and trophies in fun tournaments and challenges. Places on the course can be booked online for just £15 a day or £40 for the full course.
After the success of the Red, White and Blue day schools tournament in December, we continue to look forward to working with local schools delivering curriculum time and after school sessions. The Trusts full time staff have recently completed the AfPE Level 3 qualification for school sports delivery and look forward to putting their new skills in to action at its current schools as well as inviting new bookings from schools looking to offer their children fun and engaging sport opportunities.
